At Thryve, ensuring the safety and well‐being of all users—especially minors—is paramount. Although Thryve is intended strictly for adults (users must be at least 18 years old), we maintain robust policies, monitoring systems, and reporting procedures to prevent any risk of child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in our social and dating environment. Below you’ll find our published Child Safety Standards, including how we verify age, identify and remove prohibited content, train our teams, and how you can report any suspected abuse.
1. Age Restriction & Verification
Minimum Age Requirement
Thryve’s Terms of Service state that all users must be 18 years or older. Anyone who cannot lawfully form a binding contract due to age is not permitted to use Thryve.
During sign‐up, we require phone number verification via SMS. We do not accept VoIP numbers. While phone verification is not a foolproof proof of age, it adds an additional layer of accountability.
No Accounts for Minors
We explicitly prohibit any user under 18 from registering. If we become aware that a user is underage, we immediately terminate that account and delete all associated data.
2. Prohibited Content & Conduct
Zero Tolerance for CSAE
Any content depicting, describing, or facilitating sexual activities involving minors is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
Photographs or videos of minors in sexual contexts
Explicit conversations, images, or requests that sexualize underage individuals
Requests for any exploitative or sexualized communication involving minors
Any user who attempts to share or solicit prohibited content will be permanently banned, and local law enforcement may be notified.
User Reporting & Moderation
All users can report suspicious users, conversations, profiles, or media via the “Report” button on any profile or chat. Reports are reviewed by our Trust & Safety team within 24 hours (often faster).
We employ a combination of automated filters (keyword detection, image hashing) and manual review to identify CSAE content. Content flagged by our filters is immediately removed pending review.
Repeat offenders are immediately suspended and referred to law enforcement as required under local and federal statutes.
3. Proactive Monitoring & Detection
Automated Detection Tools
We use industry‐standard CSAE‐filtering technology (e.g., photo hash matching against the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) database) to automatically block any known illegal images.
Our text‐scanning algorithms detect grooming language patterns, code‐words, and suspicious queries that may indicate exploitation attempts.
Manual Review by Trust & Safety Team
A dedicated Trust & Safety team is on call 7 days a week. Any report of potential CSAE content triggers an immediate queue for manual review.
Reviewers are trained to recognize red‐flag behaviors (e.g., attempts to steer conversations toward minors or sexual content) and to escalate to law enforcement when necessary.
4. Reporting Abuse & Cooperation with Authorities
How to Report Suspected CSAE
If you encounter any profile, message, image, or behavior on Thryve that suggests child exploitation, click Report next to the user’s profile or message. You will be prompted to select a reason (choose “Exploitation/CSA” or “Underage” if available) and provide any relevant details.
You may also email our 24/7 Trust & Safety team directly at safety@thethryveapp.com with the subject line:

URGENT: Report of Suspected Child Exploitation
In your email, please include:
• Username or phone number of the suspect account
• Date and time (approximate) of the activity
• Screenshots or copied text (if available)
• Any additional context that can assist our investigation
Law Enforcement Liaison
When we confirm a violation involving CSAE, we forward all relevant information—along with any logs or evidence—to the appropriate law enforcement agencies or NCMEC immediately.
We comply fully with any valid court orders, subpoenas, or investigator requests for user data in the course of a criminal investigation.
We have a designated Trust & Safety Representative who is available to cooperate with law enforcement 24/7 at (123) 456‐7890 or via email at lawenforcement@thethryveapp.com.
5. Safe Onboarding & Education
Onboarding Prompts & Warnings
During profile creation, we present clear warnings: “Thryve is for users 18+ only. Any sexual content involving minors is illegal and will lead to immediate suspension and notification of authorities.”
We also require users to confirm their birthdate and agree to our Terms of Service, which explicitly prohibit minors.
User Education
Our in‐app FAQ includes a “Safety Tips” guide, with a section titled “Protecting Yourself and Others.” This section explains:
Never share personal details or photos with strangers
Recognize grooming tactics (e.g., attempts to isolate or use flattery)
Report any user who asks for sexual content or indicates they are under 18
We periodically send push notifications or in‐app messages with safety reminders, especially around major holidays or when incidents rise in frequency.
6. Data Retention & Privacy Considerations
Retention of Reported Content
All content reported for CSAE is stored securely and encrypted. We retain reports, chat logs, and associated images for a minimum of 90 days after final resolution, to assist law enforcement. After 90 days, personally identifying information (PII) is redacted and only anonymized logs are kept for further analysis.
If required by law (e.g., a subpoena or court order), we may retain certain evidence for up to 5 years or as mandated by jurisdictional statute.
User Privacy & Anonymization
We never share user phone numbers, email addresses, or PII with other users.
Any data provided to law enforcement is limited to what is specifically requested by a valid subpoena or court order.
If a user’s account is deleted (voluntarily or for violation), we erase their PII and profile content immediately, except for content tied to an active CSAE investigation, which is retained under the guidelines above.
7. Training & Accountability
Staff Training
All Trust & Safety team members complete mandatory annual training on identifying child sexual exploitation, recognizing grooming behavior, and handling CSAE evidence.
Our engineering team receives quarterly briefings on the latest CSAE detection tools, new image‐hash databases, and best practices in privacy‐preserving moderation.
Independent Audits
We commission an external child safety audit each year to ensure our policies and detection systems meet or exceed industry best practices.
Audit findings and improvements are summarized (without revealing proprietary details) on our “Responsible Dating” blog section for transparency.
