Welcome to Thryve (“Thryve,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application (“Thryve App”) or visit our website (https://thethryveapp.com, together with the App, the “Service”). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, or by visiting our website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Registration & Authentication
Phone Number: When you create an account, you verify via SMS. We use Twilio (or a comparable SMS service) to send a one-time code to your mobile device. We do not collect or store VoIP numbers.
Profile Details: You provide your name (or chosen display name), birthdate/age, gender, location (city, state), and optional personal information (bio, “What brings you here?” responses, attachment style, care style, affection preference, deal breakers).
Photos & Media: You upload at least three (3) high-definition profile photos; you may also share additional photos within conversations.

  • Onboarding & Personality Questions
    • During the multi-step onboarding flow, you answer questions such as “Attachment style,” “How do you show care?,” and “Deal breakers.”

  • Communication with Thryve
Support Requests: If you email or message our support team (e.g., support@thethryveapp.com), we collect your email address, content of your message, and any attachments you send.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Device & Usage Data
Device Identifiers: Unique device IDs, operating system version, device model.
Analytics & Crash Reports: We collect anonymized usage metrics and crash logs (for a maximum of 90 days) to improve performance, diagnose errors, and optimize the user experience.

  • Location Data
    • If you permit location services, we may collect approximate GPS data to provide localized features (e.g., showing nearby profiles). You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.

  • Log Data
    • We collect server logs including IP addresses, timestamps, and pages or screens viewed. We use these logs to monitor for security incidents, fraud, and abuse. After 90 days, IP addresses and other direct identifiers are stripped or anonymized.

1.3 Third-Party Data

  • Social & OAuth Providers
    • If you choose to sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your public name, email address, and a unique provider ID from Google or Apple. We do not collect or store your Google/Apple password.

  • Payment & Billing
    • If you subscribe to any premium features (e.g., in-app purchases), your financial/payment information is processed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We do not store your full payment credentials on our servers.

  • Analytics & Advertising Partners
    • We may use third-party analytics tools (such as Firebase Analytics or Supabase usage logs) to collect aggregated, anonymous metrics about how you use the Service. We do not share personally identifiable information (PII) with advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Information

    • To calculate your Thryve Score (respect, engagement, and ghosting metrics) and show you compatible matches.
    • To power “First Sip Mode” by controlling the exchange of initial messages before revealing photos.

  3. Communication & Notifications
    • To send you transactional messages (e.g., password resets, account verification codes, match notifications).
    • To deliver marketing messages (e.g., new features, promotional offers). You may opt out of promotional SMS at any time by replying STOP.

  4. Customer Support & Feedback
    • To respond to your inquiries, handle support requests, and process account deletion or data-access requests.

  5. Analytics & Improvement
    • To analyze aggregate usage trends, monitor app performance, fix bugs, and improve features.
    • To detect and prevent fraud, spam, or abusive behavior.

  6. Legal & Safety

  3. Legal Requirements
    • We may disclose your personal data if required by law (e.g., served with a valid subpoena, court order, or government request), or to establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights.
    • We may share information to prevent or investigate fraud, security or technical issues, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Thryve, our users, or others.

  4. Business Transfers
    • In the event Thryve is acquired, merged, or undergoes a reorganization, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before any such transfer and subject your personal data to this Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

  1. Active Accounts
    • We retain your account data (profile, chat history, photos, usage metrics) for as long as your account is active or until you request deletion.

  2. Deletion Requests
    • If you wish to delete your Thryve account and all associated data, please email support@thethryveapp.com with the subject line “Request Account Deletion – Thryve.” Include your registered phone number or username.

  4. Legal or Tax Records
    • If required by law (e.g., to comply with a subpoena, court order, or tax audit), we may retain minimal account metadata (account ID, creation date, last login) for up to 5 years. This data is stored securely and is not used for marketing.

  5. Aggregated & Anonymized Data
    • We may keep aggregated, de-identified analytics (e.g., total active users, feature usage counts) indefinitely for product improvement. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

  1. Cookies
    • We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., local storage) to remember your preferences, maintain your session, and improve performance on our website. Most web browsers accept cookies by default, but you can disable cookies in your browser settings (note: disabling cookies may impact your user experience).

  2. Web Beacons & Pixel Tags
    • We may embed tracking pixels or web beacons on certain pages to measure usage and collect analytics. These tools allow us to understand how you navigate our site, which pages you view, and which features are most popular.

  3. Third-Party Analytics
    • We use Google Analytics (or other analytics platforms) to collect anonymized information about how visitors interact with our website (e.g., pageviews, referral sources, device type). You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via Google’s Opt-Out Browser Add-On if desired.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard safeguards to protect your personal data:

  • Encryption: All sensitive data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and, where applicable, at rest (AES-256).

  • Access Controls: Only authorized Thryve employees and contractors have access to production data; access is logged and audited.

  • Authentication Best Practices: We use Supabase’s secure authentication flows, Twilio’s SMS verification, and OAuth tokens (Google/Apple).

  • Regular Audits & Pen-Testing: We perform internal security reviews and hire third-party auditors to perform penetration testing.

  • Incident Response: In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities within 72 hours, in accordance with applicable laws.

However, no system is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@thethryveapp.com.

7. Children’s Privacy

  • Payments
    • If you make in-app purchases, your payment data is processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play. We do not store your full card number or billing information on our servers.

  • External Software & SDKs
    • Thryve may integrate third-party software development kits (SDKs) for analytics (e.g., Firebase), push notifications, or performance monitoring. These providers may collect anonymous, aggregated data. We do not share your PII with these providers beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.
